Big John`s Submarines in Kitchener

It's an iconic shop, around for years. Good subs and pitas with special sauce.

Sadly it was the worst sub I've ever had. It was a bit confusing because it was my first time here, but after I placed my order the worker disappeared in the back to make it for me. I realized when I got home that they never asked me if I wanted veggies or anything on it, so it was a super plain tasteless sub with zero vegetables. It tasted cheap and not worth the cost.

The place is a little hole in the wall. You walk in and it looks dated and you think omg what did I get myself into. However the owner is extremely friendly and the subs are the best in town. Thick pieces of meat. The subs aren't the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

Fantastic home made REAL chicken breast subs. Decent service and fast. Will be back.

Oh lord it was good. The bread was fresh the lettuce crunchy. Yum!

Best subs in Kitchener-Waterloo for 50 years however I always get the pepperoni sub :) highly recommended.

Something was of about the taste and i didnt recieve the pickles and olives i asked for and there was no tomato onit i even asked her if she put the pickles and olives on she said yes there onno they were not

We have loved Big John's since the 80s. My stand by favourite has been awful the last three times we visited in the last few months. We live in the neighbourhood and its our guilty pleasure to walk down and have a sub once in a while. Whatever meat they're now using in the basic assorted sub is TERRIBLE! The past two for sure have been like this. Last time I thought it was a fluke. Today its the same again. Not even sure what kind of meat its supposed to be, its thick and dried out. Yuck.

Such a great sandwich restaurant. Quality is better than you'd find with Subway/Mr Sub. I've lived in KW my whole life and can't believe it's taken me this long to try Big John's. There vegetarian options are good and doesn't sacrifice taste when you get a meat free sub!

Mediocre. Why this place has such a high rating is bizarre. No better than Subway or Mr sub. Sub was soggy and tasteless.

Big John's offers a unique and delicious take on subs. A large array of choices and toppings are sure to please any tastes. Friendly service is a great topping on the experience too.

Just picked up a sub from this place. I couldn't believe that they would put 2 ends of the fake salami in my sandwich. I worked at a sub place when younger and we were always instructed to throw those out but not here. Things must be tight and tough to push this off on a customer at any price... Horrible and I would suggest strongly you spend your money somewhere that appreciates it. This place takes the award for most Horrible Sub I've had in years.... Brutal

The meat was chewy, cut too thick. Something changed... been going for years and this is the first time I didn't enjoy. Maybe next time will be better.

Complete scam. $9 cheese (moo) sub and there is no cheese on it. No wonder the bag is stapled closed, so you don't check before leaving.

They must have changed owners as picked up a sub today and no meat on it! Nothing like big johns used to be. And they charged 1.75 for a pop.

Excellent subs, some of the best in town. Service is always friendly and prompt, with the ability to call in an order for future pickup a real time saver. Wide variety of different subs, and you can have them microwaved or toasted if you want it heated.

Old school sub place. Not much to look at, but the sub bread is super fresh, tons of specialty subs and their sub sauce is SO DELICIOUS sweet and tangy. I wish I could buy a gallon of the sauce.

Good friendly service. Food is ok, lots of spicy peppers and almost no other flavors. Would be nice if asked to add more greens, onions, tomatoes and such - otherwise meet feels bland. Storefront would benefit from a touch of cozier arrangement - flowers, chalk menu, some ornaments - to make it look more welcoming.

This place is not fancy at all but if you want a good old traditional toasted sub they do a great job

Great subs, excellent price and fresh. I eat there almost once a week. Highly recommend the Mixed or Salami sub. I was never a Cold cut sub guy until I had it here. The sub sauce is also delicious. Don't be put off by the simplistic setup.

Love these subs. So many options to choose from, and they are really good. Tuna salad is a little too wet for my taste, but the Sicilian is fabulous. Great sandwich choice in KW!

Big John's was a staple back in the '80s and early '90s for my generation and to my surprise - it tastes as good now as it did then - Woot Woot

Always delicious and great value

If ever a place were to garner the description of 'hidden gem' it's certainly Big John's Submarines. This take out joint makes a sandwich that probably knocks 5 years off your life, but the trade still feels like it's completely in your favour. I've been devouring the Hunter Club here on a semi regular basis. The overture of delicious meats, cheese, and hot-sauce on a toasted sub is something special that deserves your attention. Highly recommended.

I love big john I new the original oener and his son was my friend I know its new owners and I'm happy they are keeping it old school I live in Gatineau Quebec and come down to the st jacobs market wouldn't miss my Big Johns ever I usually bring 3-6 subs home fir my friends we all live them up here I have to say thanks for still being here and ss goid as it was 40years ago I give you 10🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 oh and Merry Christmas &Happy New Year to you snd yiur staff the young lady was very pleasant s great sence of humour 👍👍👍👍👍

Garbage subs ordered the meatball sub that came with no sauce and the meatballs looked like they were from 1992
